ImageWe all have access to increasing amounts of information.  Foremost in this is the growth of Internet access and sheer magnitude on information on the world wide web.  In the UK, web browsing has recently surpassed watching television in terms of the time spent on it as a recreational activity.  In organisations all forms of unstructured data (documents, presentations, spreadsheets, e-mail, audio and video) are growing at alarming rates.  But the thing about all this information is that it is useful only when you know where it is.  In work setting individuals are generally still fairly confident about finding information on their local PC or on a server where they use information regularly.  However, if they are trying to find a something new to them or that they use infrequently then it becomes more problematic.
